Golkoy

Until 1990, Golkoy and Turkbuku were two separate settlements, but their names ware combined and changed to Golturkbuku and these two settlements combined into a single town.

Mythological name of Golkoy was Karianda in history and it was a coastal town known for vineyards and winemaking during the Carian period.

Turkbuku is the ancient Lelegian settlement known as Madnasa. The livelihood of the village, which was called Rum Buku (Greek village) before the Turks is fishing. The village took the name Turkbuku (Turkish village) when it fell into the hands of the Turks. There are also many historical ruins on the Kaleyikigi hills in Turkbuku.

It is worth seeing the rock-cut tombs built in the form of interlocking rooms in the hollow rocks here.

Golkoy Wetland, which the locals call the Mediterranean Lake, is also here. The famous endemic Phoenix Theophrastii date palm tree species here is an endangered tree species that has survived to the present day.
